Decide on the type of the mattress that you want to buy. They are of different types like foam, spring, latex, memory foam, air, and so on. Each of them has different properties and you should do some research about them before buying a mattress.

You should always test the mattress before buying the one. Lie on it for sometime and check its firmness and how comfortable it is. Lying on the mattress would help you in choosing the one, but you would get a fair idea only after using the mattress for a few days. Therefore, always insist the dealer to give you some trial period like a week or a fortnight.
